"Many Bosch and Siemens dishwasher owners in Malviya Nagar and C-Scheme ask us if they can crush our ₹20/kg salt tablets to use in their dishwasher salt reservoir instead of buying ₹140/kg boxes. Chemically, both are identical 99.7% pure vacuum-evaporated NaCl—the only difference is physical size so tablets don't jam the small cap threads of a dishwasher floor sump."
Why Does Your Dishwasher Have Its Own Built-In Water Softener?
If you own a Bosch, Siemens, IFB, LG, or Voltas Beko dishwasher in Rajasthan, you know that red salt-indicator light on the dashboard all too well. Every modern dishwasher actually contains a miniature ion-exchange resin chamber built into its base. Why? Because hot 65°C wash water mixed with Jaipur's 600+ PPM hard borewell water will turn glass tumblers cloudy white after just three washes and coat the dishwasher's spray arms in limestone.
Are Dishwasher Salt and Softener Salt Tablets Chemically Different?
No. Chemically, they are 100% identical. Both premium dishwasher salt and our compacted water softener salt tablets are refined, vacuum-evaporated food-grade Sodium Chloride (NaCl) with >99.7% purity, zero iodine, and zero anti-caking agents.
The only difference is physical form factor:
- Dishwasher Salt (2–4 mm coarse pearls): Sized specifically to pour easily through the narrow 4-cm funnel at the bottom of a dishwasher tub and dissolve rapidly inside a tiny 1-liter sump reservoir.
- Water Softener Salt Tablets (25 mm pillow briquettes): Hydraulically compacted so that 25 kg to 200 kg of salt can sit in a tall brine tank without collapsing into a solid cake at the bottom.
Can You Put Whole Salt Tablets Inside a Dishwasher Sump?
We do not recommend forcing whole 25-mm tablets into a small under-counter dishwasher floor cap for two practical reasons: first, whole tablets take up too much air space in a tiny 800-gram reservoir; second, if a chunk of tablet gets wedged in the screw-cap rubber gasket, wash detergent will leak into your dishwasher's resin chamber and ruin it.
However, here is the smarter homeowner hack: If your home has a whole-house or bathroom/kitchen water softener running on our ₹20/kg salt tablets, the water entering your dishwasher is already softened (<20 PPM)! You can set your Bosch/IFB dishwasher's electronic hardness setting to H:00 or H:01, cutting your expensive branded dishwasher salt consumption by 90% while protecting your glassware, kitchen sink taps, geysers, and RO purifier all at once.
